I became interested in voids while creating a body of worked called Query. Each painting in that series involved the removal of a defined area, either visually or of the actual material itself, leaving Lacunas, gaps or missing parts full of undefined yet powerful content. I collected and saved the removed pieces of various sizes and materials. After several years, I repurposed them into a wall installation, painting and arranging them into archeological strata. It is part of an exploration into the connections between the archeological and the current built environment. See application of this image to Spring Street Project, on this site.
