Sunrise in the West grew out of daily early morning observations from my home, a high rise building in NYC. My windows face west, yet I receive resplendent and unusual views of the sunrise as it reflects, diffuses and fairly inhabits the buildings that I face. My main artistic interest is the constructed city, and for brief and passing moments the rising light appears as structure, insinuating itself, overpowering metal, glass, and concrete - light as structure.
